1And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,2Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.3And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.4And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.5And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.6And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.7If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.8And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.9And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:10For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:11And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.12And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.13And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.14And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.15And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.17And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.20And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.21And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.22And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?23And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.24And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.25But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;26But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.27And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.28And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,29And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.30But he passing through the midst of them went his way,31And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.32And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.33And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,34Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.35And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.36And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.37And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.38And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.39And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.40Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.41And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.42And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.43And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.44And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

Die Versuchung Jesu

1Jesus aber, voll Heiligen Geistes, kam zurück vom Jordan und wurde im Geist in die Wüste geführt2und wurde vierzig Tage lang vom Teufel versucht. Und er aß nichts in diesen Tagen; und als sie vollendet waren, hungerte ihn.3Der Teufel aber sprach zu ihm: Bist du Gottes Sohn, so sprich zu dem Stein, dass er Brot werde.4Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Es steht geschrieben: "Der Mensch lebt nicht vom Brot allein, sondern von einem jeden Wort Gottes."5Und der Teufel führte ihn auf einen hohen Berg und zeigte ihm alle Reiche der ganzen Welt in einem Augenblick6und sprach zu ihm: Alle diese Macht will ich dir geben und ihre Herrlichkeit; denn sie ist mir übergeben, und ich gebe sie, wem ich will.7Wenn du nun mich anbetest, soll es alles dein sein.8Jesus antwortete ihm und sprach: Es steht geschrieben: "Du sollst den HERRN, deinen Gott, anbeten und ihm allein dienen."9Und er führte ihn nach Jerusalem und stellte ihn auf die Zinne des Tempels und sprach zu ihm: Bist du Gottes Sohn, so wirf dich von hier hinunter10denn es steht geschrieben: "Er wird seinen Engeln befehlen wegen dir, dass sie dich bewahren11und auf den Händen tragen, damit du nicht deinen Fuß an einen Stein stößt."12Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Es ist gesagt: "Du sollst den HERRN, deinen Gott, nicht versuchen."13Und als der Teufel alle Versuchung vollendet hatte, wich er von ihm eine Zeit lang.

Jesus beginnt seinen Dienst. In Nazareth

14Und Jesus kam in der Kraft des Geistes nach Galiläa zurück; und die Kunde von ihm erscholl durch alle umliegenden Orte.15Und er lehrte in ihren Synagogen und wurde von jedermann gepriesen.

16Und er kam nach Nazareth, wo er aufgewachsen war, und ging nach seiner Gewohnheit am Sabbattage in die Synagoge und stand auf und wollte lesen.17Da wurde ihm das Buch des Propheten Jesaja gereicht. Und als er das Buch aufrollte, fand er die Stelle, wo geschrieben steht:18"Der Geist des HERRN ist auf mir, darum, dass er mich gesalbt hat; er hat mich gesandt, zu verkündigen das Evangelium den Armen, zu heilen die zertrümmerten Herzens sind, zu predigen den Gefangenen, dass sie los sein sollen, und den Blinden, dass sie sehen sollen und den Zerschlagenen, dass sie frei und ledig sein sollen,19und zu verkündigen das angenehme Jahr des HERRN."20Und als er das Buch zurollte, gab er's dem Diener und setzte sich. Und aller Augen in der Synagoge sahen auf ihn.21Und er fing an, zu ihnen zu reden: Heute ist diese Schrift erfüllt vor euren Ohren.22Und sie gaben alle Zeugnis von ihm und wunderten sich über die Worte der Gnade, die aus seinem Mund gingen, und sprachen: "Ist das nicht Josephs Sohn?"23Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr werdet freilich zu mir sagen dies Sprichwort: Arzt, hilf dir selber! Denn wie große Dinge haben wir gehört, die in Kapernaum geschehen sind! Tue ebenso auch hier, in deiner Vaterstadt.24Er sprach aber: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Kein Prophet wird angenommen in seinem Vaterland.25Aber in Wahrheit sage ich euch: Es waren viele Witwen in Israel zu Elias Zeiten, als der Himmel verschlossen war drei Jahre und sechs Monate, als eine große Hungersnot war im ganzen Land26und zu keiner von ihnen wurde Elia gesandt als allein nach Sarepta bei Sidon zu einer Witwe.27Und viele Aussätzige waren in Israel zur Zeit des Propheten Elisa; und keiner von ihnen wurde gereinigt als allein Naeman aus Syrien.28Und sie wurden in der Synagoge alle voll Zorn, als sie das hörten,29und standen auf und jagten ihn zur Stadt hinaus und führten ihn auf einen Hügel des Berges, auf dem ihre Stadt gebaut war, dass sie ihn hinabstürzten.30Aber er ging mitten durch sie hindurch und zog fort.

Jesus heilt einen Besessenen

31Und er kam nach Kapernaum, in die Stadt Galiläas, und lehrte sie am Sabbat.32Und sie wunderten sich über seine Lehre; denn seine Rede war gewaltig.

33Und es war ein Mann in der Synagoge, besessen von dem unsauberen Geist eines Dämons; der schrie laut34und sprach: Halt, was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Jesus von Nazareth? Du bist gekommen uns zu zerstören. Ich weiß wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes.35Und Jesus bedrohte ihn und sprach: Verstumme und fahre aus von ihm! Und der böse Geist warf ihn mitten unter sie und fuhr von ihm aus und tat ihm keinen Schaden.36Und es kam ein Entsetzen über sie alle, und sie redeten miteinander und sprachen: Was ist das für ein Ding? Er gebietet mit Macht und Gewalt den unsauberen Geistern, und sie fahren aus.37Und die Nachricht von ihm erscholl in alle Orte des umliegenden Landes.

Jesus im Haus Simons

38Und er stand auf von der Synagoge und kam in Simons Haus. Und Simons Schwiegermutter war mit einem starken Fieber behaftet; und sie baten ihn für sie.39Und er trat zu ihr und gebot dem Fieber, und es verließ sie. Und sogleich stand sie auf und diente ihnen.

40Und als die Sonne untergegangen war, brachten sie alle ihre Kranken mit mancherlei Leiden zu ihm. Und er legte auf einen jeden die Hände und machte sie gesund.41Es fuhren auch die Teufel aus von vielen, schrien und sprachen: Du bist Christus, der Sohn Gottes! Und er bedrohte sie und ließ sie nicht reden; denn sie wussten, dass er der Christus war.

42Als es aber Tag wurde, ging er hinaus an eine einsame Stätte; und das Volk suchte ihn, und sie kamen zu ihm und hielten ihn auf, dass er nicht von ihnen ginge.43Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Ich muss auch anderen Städten das Evangelium verkündigen vom Reich Gottes; denn dazu bin ich gesandt.44Und er predigte in den Synagogen Galiläas.
